The acquisition of CBS Radio by Bala Cynwyd’s Entercom Communications will bring new jobs to Philadelphia region, writes Jeff Blumenthal for Philadelphia Business Journal.

However, by completing one of the biggest media deals in the country, it has also made Entercom CEO, David Field, one of the most influential media executives in the country. But for him, the decision to acquire the radio giant was easy.

“We think we will be able to take the best parts of both companies and create something special,” he said in an interview with Philadelphia Business Journal.

With the addition of CBS radio, Entercom will significantly increase its number of news, talk, and sports stations and the company is looking forward to embracing them all in the fold.

“We will be home to 45 professional sports teams and many college teams,” said Field. “We have 100 of the top rated sports talk shows in the country.”

Becoming the second-biggest radio company in the nation will also help grow Entercom’s Bala Cynwyd headquarters, with the company planning to add new jobs in the region.

“I cannot get into specifics but we expect to add a significant number to our corporate offices,” said Field.
