Jenkintown School District Honors First Responders for Bravery in SPS Technologies Fire

Jenkintown School District honors first responders for their bravery in battling the SPS Technologies fire.

The Jenkintown School District took a moment to recognize the bravery and dedication of local first responders who battled the massive SPS Technologies fire last month, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.

During Monday night’s board meeting, Superintendent Jill Takacs and the Board of Directors presented certificates of appreciation to those who worked tirelessly to keep the community safe.

The Feb. 17 fire at the 600,000-square-foot Highland Avenue facility brought nearly 70 fire companies to the scene and led to school closures across the area, including Jenkintown.

Police Chief Tom Scott expressed gratitude for the recognition, while school officials praised first responders for their unwavering service, courage, and commitment.

“In times of crisis, our first responders answered the call without hesitation,” they said. “Their courage and commitment exemplify the very best of public service.”

Jenkintown stands proud and thankful for its first responders, whose quick actions made all the difference.
