The Montgomery County bank has been continuing to use the Valley Green name for the branches that it acquired in January 2015. However, when the two-year transition period expires, they will take on the Univest name.

The $76 million purchase of the high-performing Valley Green Bank startup was seen as an important entry point into Philadelphia, as it came with retail branches in Mount Airy, Chestnut Hill, and South Philadelphia, as well as loan production offices in Center City and Radnor.

Univest has since added a retail branch in Fairmount, while another is planned for University City early next year.

Mike Keim, Univest’s president, said that, since Philadelphia was a new market, the transition of the branches has been gradual.

“We are planning on doubling the size of our loan production office at 20th and Market,” Keim said. “That will help accommodate the additional people to help us grow business there.”
