When Stefan Weitz, Chief Product and Strategy Officer at King of Prussia’s Radial, left Microsoft this year to join the e-commerce outfit born out of the dissolution of eBay Enterprise, many people were surprised, writes Don Tennant for IT Business Edge.

However, the Microsoft veteran of 17 years had a simple explanation for the change.

“I was blessed with so many opportunities there,” he said. But “it was either double down and stay there until I was done-done, or try something else.”

The new position allows Weitz to truly dig into the new and very complex space where Amazon is currently dominating. Smaller retailers believe they can’t make it without partnering with the omnipresent online retailer, but Weitz disagrees.

“If you’re a small business, and you want to build a brand, and build customer loyalty and engagement, going to Amazon isn’t the way to go, because Amazon then owns that transaction,” he said.
