The Bala Cynwyd Farmers Market returns to One Bala Plaza today, Wednesday, June 17, offering residents and nearby workers an afternoon of fresh food, regional vendors, and live entertainment.
This Week’s Vendors and Music
This week’s market will feature produce, baked goods, prepared foods, and other locally made products. Hours are 3 to 6 PM. Shoppers can browse offerings from 320 Market Cafe, Autana Authentic Venezuelan Food, Care Package Bakes, Ursa Bakery, Sunny Acres Farm, Spotted Horse Provisions, and Saint Rocco’s Treats.
Singer-songwriter Grace O’Shea will provide live music throughout the afternoon, adding to the market’s growing role as a midweek gathering place. Its after-work hours give visitors an opportunity to pick up ingredients for dinner, discover a new local food business, or spend time with neighbors before heading home.
Easy to Reach by Train
One Bala Plaza sits within walking distance of two SEPTA Regional Rail stations on the Cynwyd Line. Bala station is a few blocks east, and Cynwyd station is a short walk west. Both offer a car-free option for commuters heading home from Center City or nearby suburbs.
The Cynwyd Heritage Trail also passes near the plaza, giving walkers and cyclists another way to reach the market without driving.
A Full Season Through October
Today’s event is part of a full season of Bala Cynwyd markets scheduled for every Wednesday through October 7. The season opened May 13, with vendors rotating from week to week. The market provides shoppers with a changing selection of farm products, prepared meals, baked goods, and specialty items.
A Market with Local Roots
The current version of the market was revived in 2022. It is a collaboration involving the City Ave District, Farm to City, and local community supporters. Earlier versions of the Bala Cynwyd Farmers Market operated more than a decade ago. This weekly event is the continuation of a longstanding effort to connect residents with area farmers and independent businesses.
Organizers also see the market as a way to create a stronger sense of place around the City Avenue corridor. It gives residents, employees, and families just one more reason to gather locally.
The Bala Cynwyd Farmers Market takes place from 3 to 6 PM at One Bala Plaza, 231 St. Asaph’s Road.
