Montgomery County doesn’t do farmers markets halfway, according to Hira Qureshi for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
From the Main Line to the Perkiomen Valley, the county’s market scene spans walkable downtowns, suburban rail stops, and small-town main streets. Right now, it’s in full swing. Whether you’re after just-picked produce, craft beer, homemade pound cake, or something you’ve never heard of before, there’s a market within reach most days of the week.
A Year-Round Staple in Bryn Mawr
Two of the county’s standouts got a nod from The Inquirer this week. The first is the Bryn Mawr Farmers Market, a year-round Saturday fixture at Bryn Mawr Station.
It’s the kind of market that earns regulars: shoppers who show up week after week for gluten-free whoopie pies from Amaranth Bakery, buckwheat ales from Deer Creek Malthouse, and whatever’s freshest that morning.
The winter schedule runs on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Saturdays from January through March, then shifts to every Saturday from April through December.
Thursday Evenings Done Right in Jenkintown
The Jenkintown Farmers Market gives the county one of its best Thursday evening options. Running from 4 to 8 PM, it’s less errand, more event.
Shoppers can grab stuffed cookies from MR. Big Stuff Cookie Co., fresh produce from Holtwood Farm, or individually wrapped pound cakes from Aunt Orphia’s Delicious Homemade Pound Cake, then linger a little longer than they planned.
Ambler Brings the Market to Butler Pike
Ambler adds another strong Saturday stop to the county’s farmers market map. Held at 29 W. Butler Pike, the Ambler Farmers Market gives shoppers a reason to head into one of Montgomery County’s most walkable downtowns and make a morning of it.
The market runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, with a season that stretches from May through October 31. For Ambler, the market fits neatly into the town’s larger appeal: a main street with restaurants, shops, and a community feel that encourages visitors to stick around after they fill their bags.
Conshohocken Offers a Downtown Weekend Option
In Conshohocken, the farmers market brings fresh food and local vendors to one of the county’s busiest downtowns. You can find it at the Plaza at SORA West, adjacent to Hotel West & Main. The market runs Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon from mid-May into early November.
It gives residents and visitors another reason to spend time in Conshohocken beyond its restaurants, bars, and riverfront energy. For a borough that has grown into a dining and development hub, the market adds a more neighborhood-focused rhythm to weekend mornings.
Glenside Keeps It Local on Saturdays
The Glenside Farmers Market is another Saturday staple, running from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 49 W. Glenside Ave. Its season stretches from late April into November, giving shoppers a long window to support local vendors.
Like many of the county’s best markets, Glenside’s works because it feels connected to the surrounding community. It is easy to imagine shoppers turning a quick produce run into a longer morning in town. Glenside’s mix of small businesses, neighborhood character, and access to nearby rail lines are an ideal visit.
Markets Across the County
Those five are just the beginning. Montgomery County’s broader market landscape includes seasonal options in Bala Cynwyd, Horsham, Lansdale, Narberth, North Wales, Pottstown, Royersford, Telford, King of Prussia, and Pennsburg.
Weekend mornings dominate the schedule, but markets in Narberth, Bala Cynwyd, Jenkintown, and Telford offer midweek and evening hours for shoppers who can’t make a Saturday work.
A Ritual Worth Keeping
Taken together, they reflect something real about the county: a genuine appetite for local, and enough community pride to show up for it every week.
