A surge in new donors is driving rapid growth for one of Montgomery County’s largest nonprofit organizations, writes for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Jenkintown-based National Philanthropic Trust is seeing a sharp increase in donor-advised fund accounts, with thousands of new participants joining in recent months. The influx has helped push the organization’s total accounts to nearly 25,000, reflecting a broader rise in charitable giving nationwide.
That growth is translating into real impact. The organization distributed more than $10 billion in grants last year alone, a significant jump from the previous year. Donations are increasing across a wide range of causes, including health, education, and human services, as more individuals look for structured ways to manage their philanthropy.
Leaders say the trend is being fueled by a combination of strong financial markets and evolving donor strategies, with more people choosing to consolidate giving into donor-advised funds.
As demand grows, National Philanthropic Trust is scaling its operations, including expanding into Conshohocken alongside Pitcairn Trust. The move reflects both increased activity and the need to support a growing base of donors.
