Bryn Mawr College has acquired a Shipley School residential property for $1.2 million, over double the amount Shipley originally paid when it bought the home in 2001, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Shipley, a private pre-K through grade 12 school, used the home at 1010 Wyndon Avenue as faculty housing. Set on nearly a third of an acre, the colonial home spans 2,854 square feet.
The Bryn Mawr and Shipley campuses sit adjacent to one another, separated by Yarrow Street and North Merion Avenue. Between them is a cluster of homes, several owned by Shipley, including the colonial it acquired for $480,000 25 years ago.
Bryn Mawr College, a prestigious women’s liberal arts institution with a $1.3 billion endowment, is currently developing a comprehensive campus plan under President Wendy Cadge, who assumed the role two years ago. The college and DLR Group are outlining a roadmap of capital projects for the next 10 to 25 years, with a preliminary plan under review and a campus presentation expected in September.
