Norristown Robotics Firm Powers High-Tech Farm Security in Hawaii

Norristown’s Asylon Robotics is helping farms use robotic dogs to guard crops, reduce costs, and improve real-time security.

A Montgomery County company is helping reshape how farms protect their crops, and it’s happening thousands of miles away, writes Chris Mccullough for Future Farming.

Norristown’s Asylon Robotics is providing high-tech “robot dogs” that are now being used to patrol large agricultural operations.

DroneDog tech is deploying at major farming sites in Hawaii, where it helps guard valuable corn crops across thousands of acres. Farms have traditionally relied on human patrols to monitor for threats like trespassing, wild animals, or even fires. But covering that much land, especially overnight, has become increasingly expensive and difficult to staff.

That’s where Asylon’s robotic system comes in. The four-legged machines are equipped with advanced cameras, sensors, and real-time streaming capabilities. Security teams can monitor large areas remotely. They can detect potential threats, send alerts, and provide live video, all without the need for constant human patrols.

The robots operate around the clock, returning to charging stations between patrols. A centralized control system tracks their activity in real time. The result is more consistent coverage, fewer staffing challenges, and improved safety for workers.
