New Kobe Bryant Shoe Pays Tribute to Lower Merion High School

Nike will release the Kobe 5 Protro “Lower Merion Aces” on March 23, honoring Kobe Bryant’s high school roots in Ardmore.

Nike shines a spotlight on Montco’s basketball legacy, according to Andrew Rizzo for Sneaker News.

Kobe Bryant’s connection to Lower Merion High School will be celebrated again with the upcoming release of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro “Lower Merion Aces.” The shoes are scheduled to launch on March 23 through Nike’s SNKRS platform and select retailers.

The design revisits the original “Lower Merion Aces – Away” colorway first introduced in 2010, part of a series of Kobe sneakers inspired by high school basketball programs. The updated Protro version features a metallic silver base with a white midsole and deep red accents. It’s the same color scheme worn by Bryant during his standout career at Lower Merion in Ardmore.

The shoe features a key change that appears on the heel, where the new release incorporates a red ace emblem alongside Bryant’s high school jersey number, 33. The sneaker serves as a tribute to his teenage playing days before entering the NBA.

Lower Merion references have appeared across several Kobe signature models over the years, underscoring how strongly Bryant’s legacy remains tied to his high school roots in Montgomery County.

The Kobe 5 Protro “Lower Merion Aces” will retail for $200 when it releases this spring.
