Montgomery County residents will have access to free cancer screenings this April thanks to a partnership aimed at expanding preventive care in the community.
According to a press release, the Philip Jaisohn Memorial Foundation will host three free screening clinics in collaboration with the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center. The events will utilize Jefferson’s Mobile Cancer Screening Unit to provide prostate and mammogram screenings for both insured and uninsured residents.
The screenings are part of the Jaisohn Center’s ongoing effort to improve access to preventive health care and promote early detection, which experts say significantly increases cancer survival rates.
“Early detection saves lives, and access should never be a barrier,” said George Choe, President of the Jaisohn Center.
The first clinic will take place April 2 at the Jaisohn Community Wellness Plaza in North Wales and will offer free prostate cancer screenings. Two mammogram clinics will follow, one April 3 at Hatfield Jame Masjid in Hatfield and another April 13 back at the wellness plaza.
The initiative is also supported by the Montgomery County Office of Public Health, which assists with outreach and care coordination through its Community Health Workers Program.
