Rocco’s Owner to Open Restaurant at Former Sycamore Grill in Newtown

The restaurateur behind the recently closed Rocco’s at The Brick teams up with a New Jersey chef on Mélange, a new upscale dining experience.

Marc Gelman, the restaurateur behind the recently closed Rocco’s at The Brick, has teamed up with Chef Joe Brown on Mélange, a new upscale dining experience set to open at the former Sycamore Grill spot in Newtown, writes Michele Haddon for the Bucks County Courier Times.

The pair had already begun renovating the new space months in advance of the sudden closure of Rocco’s.

The new eatery will center on the bold flavors and hearty cooking traditions of Louisiana and Italy, complemented by a fine dining setting enhanced with light jazz and soul music.

Brown, who brings over forty years of culinary experience to the new upscale restaurant, explained that both the name and the menu draw from his own background.

They developed as he refined his focus on Creole, Cajun, and the cuisines of northern and southern Italy. The name itself translates to “mixture” from French.

“My concept has always been a mixture of cultures because that’s how I grew up,” he said.

Once the new restaurant is operational, Gelman plans to secure a new location and relaunch Rocco’s.
