The final days of the Regal Cinema at the Barn Plaza in Doylestown have arrived as the demolition phase of the redevelopment project progresses, writes Jeff Werner for Patch.
The faux twin silos were demolished after decades, and the former theater is in the process of being taken down.
Regal’s Barn Plaza cinema closed at the beginning of 2023 following the theater chain’s declaration of bankruptcy. The company shut down theaters nationwide, including the Doylestown location.
Final land development plans for the site indicate that it will feature 41,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.
After demolition is complete and the space is cleared, Brixmor Property Group will move forward with the construction phase.
Three new commercial buildings will be built, including a 9,600-square-foot building to house two restaurants, a 28,000-square-foot retail space with multiple tenants, and a drive-through coffee shop with two retail tenants.
Sidewalks, as well as right-turn-in and right-turn-out only traffic movement, will be added to improve traffic flow and provide a safe walking space for shoppers.
“We’re very excited about (the plan) and we think it’s really going to solidify the property and make it sustainable,” said William Greimel, Vice President of Redevelopment for Brixmor.
