Another well-known retailer is set to leave Plymouth Meeting early next year, according to Daniel J. Sernovitz and Paul Schwedelson for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
Saks Off 5th plans to close its outlet at The Metroplex in January. This is part of a broader national downsizing that includes eight other locations across the U.S.
The off-price retailer, which operates nearly 80 stores, said the closures stem from a companywide analysis aimed at strengthening its focus on top-performing markets. A Saks Global spokesperson called the move “part of a larger strategic initiative to optimize our Saks OFF 5th store presence.” They emphasized that the brand remains committed to enhancing both in-store and online experiences.
At The Metroplex, the 24,680-square-foot Saks Off 5th sits between the PGA Tour Superstore and Target. The property is owned by Blue Bell-based Goldenberg Group, which declined to comment on the closure. The company continues to manage a diverse tenant mix at the popular Plymouth Meeting shopping destination.
Other closures are planned in major markets, including Chicago, Washington, D.C., West Hartford, and Austin, while the Saks Fifth Avenue at Bala Plaza in Bala Cynwyd will remain open.
