Plymouth Meeting actress Kailey Hyman obtained a role in A Man Called Otto, the Tom Hanks dramedy that opens nationwide on Jan. 13. Her role was cited by Kevin Tierney in More Than the Curve

Hyman attended Norwood-Fontbonne Academy, a Philadelphia elementary school, before moving onto the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts.

Her BFA in acting was earned at Texas State University.

In the film, Hyman plays Barb, a neighbor to Otto Anderson, the irascible titular character. She can be seen in the movie’s extended trailer, wearing pink, leopard-print tights and a pink cap.

A Man Called Otto is a remake of the 2015 Swedish movie A Man Called Ove; its screenplay refers to the main character as “… the bitter neighbor from hell.” The original received two Academy Award nominations and was the highest-grossing foreign film in the U.S. for 2016, according to IMDB.

IMDB also lists another piece of interesting trivia. A younger version of Otto Anderson appears onscreen; the actor playing him is Truman Hanks, Tom Hanks’ then-26-year-old son.

More on Kailey Hyman and her spot in A Man Called Otto is at More Than the Curve.
