Cheltenham native Dave Burd, better known as Lil Dicky, is entering a new chapter of his creative career, according to Ryan Gajewski for The Hollywood Reporter.
Burd is in talks to sell an original animated feature pitch to DreamWorks Animation. This marks a major step for the performer whose work already spans rap, TV, comedy, and environmental activism. The project reportedly attracted strong industry interest before DreamWorks secured it; plot details remain tightly under wraps.
Burd rose to national prominence as the star, co-creator, and executive producer of FX’s hit comedy Dave, a semi-autobiographical series that drew critical acclaim. With season three wrapping in 2023, Burd stepped back from the show to pursue new ventures, leaving the door open for future possibilities while expanding his artistic reach.
His music career remains equally formidable. Burd’s 2024 release, Penith (The Dave Soundtrack), doubled as his second studio album. The album followed his Billboard-charting debut Professional Rapper. His 2019 project Earth showcased his growing interest in global issues through creative storytelling.
Now, with DreamWorks in the mix, the Cheltenham star’s ambitions continue to rise. “I want to be in things that are up for best picture discussion,” Dave Burd said. “Or I want to make my own revolutionary comedy or drama.”
