Lil Dicky Reflects on Philly Fandom and the Night of the Eagles’ Super Bowl Win

Cheltenham native Lil Dicky reflects on his Eagles, Sixers, and Phillies fandom — and why Philly sports remain central to his identity.

Dave Burd, better known as rapper Lil Dicky, may live in Los Angeles, but his heart still belongs to Philadelphia sports, Adam Weinrib writes for FanSided.

The Cheltenham native grew up surrounded by the passion and intensity of Eagles fans. “I’ve always been a Philly sports fan,” Burd said. “The passion of the Eagles fan base, and Philly fans in general, is very infectious and probably why I ultimately care so much.”

He recalls the Donovan McNabb era as the time be became a diehard, riding the highs of division titles and the heartbreak of multiple NFC Championship losses.

And, of course, the 2018 Super Bowl.

Burd turned down a ticket to the game in Minnesota so he could celebrate with his childhood friends in Philadelphia. “They won, and then we went into the street. Just to be in Philly at that time was so satisfying. Probably the bet night of my life,” he said.

Though he stays busy in California, Burd remains locked in on his teams. He says he cares about the Sixers just as much as the Eagles and keeps a close eye on the Phillies each postseason.
