Leapfrog Awards Top Honors to Bryn Mawr and Lankenau Hospitals

Main Line Health hospitals, including Bryn Mawr and Lankenau, earn top Leapfrog safety grades, highlighting patient care close to Montco.

Main Line Health’s hospitals are earning national praise once again, according to Main Line Times & Suburban.

Bryn Mawr Hospital, Lankenau Medical Center, and Riddle Hospital all received an “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group, the patient safety nonprofit. The rating focuses on preventable errors, injuries, infections, and other key safety indicators that matter to patients and their families.

Bryn Mawr Hospital has maintained its straight-A performance since joining the Leapfrog program in 2020, while Lankenau Medical Center has continued its A streak since fall 2023. Paoli Hospital earned a B, rounding out the system’s latest report card.

Main Line Health President and CEO Ed Jimenez credited the achievement to the daily work of clinicians, staff, and volunteers, noting that these grades provide an independent measure of the system’s top priority: patient safety. Leapfrog leaders echoed that sentiment, emphasizing that an “A” represents a sustained commitment to reducing preventable harm.

For patients across Montco and the Main Line, these ratings offer reassurance that high-quality care remains close to home—from routine procedures to life-saving interventions. With more than 500 Americans dying each day from preventable medical errors, the Leapfrog Safety Grade remains an important public benchmark for transparency and trust.
