Horsham has officially christened its new Keith Valley Middle School, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.
The $125 million project opened last month on Meetinghouse Road. The modern facility sits directly behind the original school, which dated back to 1957, and will soon replace it entirely.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony late last week marked the dedication of the state-of-the-art building, which school officials say has been years in the making. Planning for a replacement began as far back as 2008.
Multiple studies consistently placed Keith Valley at the top of the Hatboro-Horsham School District’s priorities for a replacement. The process gained momentum over the past 18 months, with community meetings, proposals, and hearings leading to final approval.
The district tapped Schradergroup Architects for design and D’Huy Engineering for construction management. Demolition of the old school is set to begin in mid-September, with the project expected to wrap up by December.
