Phoenixville Named No. 1 Best Small Town to Live in By Travel + Leisure

Travel + Leisure named Phoenixville the top small town in America for its cultural activities, housing, educational facilities, and more.

Renowned travel magazine Travel + Leisure has named Phoenixville the top small town in the U.S. in a recent ranking, write Anne E. Hill and Dahlia Matzner for Main Line Today.

The magazine evaluated small towns across the country based on a variety of factors. This included accessible housing, cultural activities, access to green spaces, and nearby educational facilities.

In its list of the ten “Best Small Towns to Live in the U.S.,” Phoenixville received the top spot.

With the recent national recognition, locals are celebrating the now not-so-hidden gems Phoenixville has to offer.

The town hosts a variety of seasonal activities all year long. Each July, Blobfest celebrates the 1958 film The Blob, which was filmed in and around town.  The Phoenixville Firebird Festival features a 20-foot community-built phoenix that is set ablaze each December.

In addition to local festivities, the borough boasts endless attractions throughout the year, from shopping and dining to outdoor recreation.

As for shopping, Lulu Boutique & Gifterie and Refinery offer women’s clothing both new and vintage. The nearby Schuylkill River Trail offers space for hiking and biking with scenic views of the water.

When it’s time for a meal, cafés and pubs throughout town offer perfect bites for any time of day.

Café Com Leite features Brazilian-inspired coffees and superfoods. Later in the day, the community favorite Bistro on Bridge offers pub-style food perfect for winding down after a day on the town.
