After months of preparation, HSN has closed operations at its Florida studios and officially completed its relocation to QVC’s campus in West Chester, writes Ashley Gurbal Kritzer for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The shopping network “transitioned to broadcasting full-time from our corporate headquarters in West Chester” at noon on Wednesday, said its spokesperson.
HSN’s parent company, QVC Group, announced earlier this year plans to consolidate HSN and QVC operations at West Chester studios.
HSN began as a radio program based in Clearwater, Florida, in 1977 and then transitioned to cable television five years later, becoming known as the Home Shopping Network. The company grew significantly, employing thousands of people at its St. Petersburg campus before it was acquired by QVC Group in 2017.
The move has put the 65-acre campus in St. Petersburg’s Gateway area up for sale and resulted in job losses for more than 700 people.
Eleven of the network’s 21 on-air hosts have relocated to West Chester. The group includes Sarah Anderson, Debbie Denmon, Adam Freeman, Nicole Hickl, Tamara Hooks, Tina Jennings, Emily Lampa, Ty Mayberry, Callie Northagen, Suzanne Runyan, and Siaoming Wong.
