John and Brian Quinn of Horsham, a father and son duo, have been selected to compete in the 2026 Special Olympics USA in Minneapolis, writes Gray Hall for 6abc.
The pair has been competing together for two decades, ever since they first hit the links in the Special Olympics.
“It was an activity that we could do together and we really enjoyed it,” said John.
His son took to the sport right away.
“We started at a level where he had to have a partner playing with him,” said John. “Eventually, he got to a point where he could play his own ball.”
Now, the father often caddies for his son, but they still work as a team.
“I try to get him lined up and if we can get him lined up on the tee, he hits it pretty much down the middle,” said the father.
For Brian, the best part of the Special Olympics experience is meeting people.
“Met a lot of different people from a lot of different counties from throughout the state,” said his father. “With the Team USA golf going to Minneapolis, I mean, now we’re meeting people throughout the entire country.”
