Global steel manufacturer, DYWIDAG is investing $3 million to open a new hub in Pottstown, writes Donna Rovins for the Pottstown Mercury.
The manufacturing and distribution center will bring new jobs and fresh momentum to the town’s industrial corridor.
The global steel and geotechnical engineering leader will occupy 46,900 square feet at the Pottstown Industrial Complex on Keim Street. Operations are expected to be in full production by September.
The facility will produce the company’s proprietary Threadbar systems, the only ASTM A722-compliant reinforcement system in the U.S. It’s used in bridges, excavation, and landslide stabilization worldwide.
DYWIDAG selected Pottstown for its strategic access to highways and the Norfolk Southern Railway. The move will allow faster delivery to key markets like New York, Baltimore, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia, while honoring the borough’s deep steelmaking heritage.
The Pottstown plant replaces a smaller Chester County location that the company operated for more than 40 years. Several employees have transferred to the new site, and DYWIDAG is hiring additional staff for operations, sales, shipping, and administration.
President of the Americas region, Mike Kelley spoke about being a part of Pottstown’s steel-making history. “We feel very proud to be continuing the legacy of these great American industrial giants,” he said.
