DYWIDAG, a 160-year-old German infrastructure company, is opening a new 47,000-square-foot facility in Pottstown, nearly doubling its footprint in the Philadelphia region, writes Ryan Mulligan for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The Munich-based company, with roots dating all the way back to 1865, supplies technology products and systems to infrastructure projects around the globe. For more than four decades, it has operated from a 25,000-square-foot space in Toughkenamon, but recently decided to expand and update its facilities in Greater Philadelphia.
The company considered several locations before choosing Pottstown, home to a number of manufacturers in industries related to DYWIDAG.
DYWIDAG’s new manufacturing and distribution facility is located within the Pottstown Industrial Complex, next to construction supplies firms such as Steel River Building Systems, Pipe and Piling Supplies, and Contrast Metalworks.
“Immediately, we can see the other businesses that we can partner with and really help support us,” said Mike Kelley, who heads North American operations for DYWIDAG.
He added that having access to railway lines, being close to its existing workforce in the area, and the numerous options for employees within Pottstown to spend time after work “check all the boxes.”
