Inspired by her two older sisters, Hartmetz was on skates by age two. After watching players practice hockey, she instantly fell in love with the sport and wanted to join in.

“I tried everything to get her to play a different sport, but she just loved it, so there was no way to get around it,” said her mother, Justine Hartmetz.

She played in boys’ hockey and earned Rookie of the Year honors at Phoenixville High School. Then, Hartmetz transferred to Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Minnesota, where she contributed to a national championship in 2024.

Just months later, she was invited to USA Hockey’s under-18 camp. She brought home a silver medal after her first tournament with Team USA

Committed to the University of Minnesota, Hartmetz hopes the newly launched Professional Women’s Hockey League will allow her career to extend beyond college.

“I’ll hopefully get drafted and play in the [PWHL] one day,” she said.
