Worcester Community Rallies Behind House of Wiggle Goats After Fire

A fire at Worcester’s House of Wiggle Goats left 40 animals dead or missing. The Montco sanctuary is now receiving strong community support.

A devastating early morning fire left parts of Worcester’s House of Wiggle Goats sanctuary in ruins, with about 40 animals dead or missing, writes Leland Pinder for 6 ABC.

The blaze broke out around 3 AM Wednesday and quickly consumed the historic 1857 barn on the property, which was home to more than 120 rescued animals.

The sanctuary, run by Erin Wiggle, is a lifelong refuge for goats and other farm animals. Wiggle described the loss as “a farmer’s worst nightmare,” as heavy flames and a collapsing roof trapped several animals before firefighters could gain control.

While the cause is still under investigation, officials and the sanctuary suspect an electrical issue may be to blame.

Despite the heartbreak, Wiggle says the community response has been overwhelmingly supportive. Donations, volunteer offers, and messages of solidarity have poured in since the fire, giving the sanctuary hope for recovery.

“We can rebuild the barn,” Wiggle said, “but the loss of life is extremely tragic.” She remains hopeful that some of the animals that fled during the fire may still return.

A fundraiser has been launched online to help with recovery efforts, and the public is asked to report any sightings of loose farm animals to local authorities.
