Gladwyne-Based Neem Crafts Showcases Delightful Artisanal Table Linens and More

Gladwyne-based Neem Crafts offers a thoughtfully curated selection of artisanal placemats, napkins, cushions, and more, that are perfect for both hosting and gifting, writes Emily Goulet for the Philadelphia Magazine.

Ashwini Reddi’s year-and-a-half-old line stands out for its handmade products at a time when automation and AI are encroaching on even the most creative processes. Each Neem Crafts piece is made by a skilled artisan in India using traditional methods such as block printing, weaving, and embroidery.

“We bring a very modern aesthetic to very ancient craft,” said Reddi. “If someone doesn’t do something about it, I think in five or 10 years, none of these skills are going to exist.”

There is no machine able to replicate the love and artistry that go into creating Neem’s products, which is what makes them truly a luxury. Most items are made in Neem’s studio in Hyderabad. Reddi, who was born in India and moved to Philadelphia 30 years ago, travels to India each quarter, meeting with makers across the country to develop her next offerings.

Currently in the works are wooden tiebacks for curtains, along with new fabrics and trimmings.
