Joe Perpiglia is building something big—just not in the way you might expect, writes Noah Zucker for BisNow.
East Norriton’s Perpiglia launched the Construction Alliance of Pennsylvania, a new statewide trade group designed to bring together construction professionals, from large contractors to small businesses.
Unlike other trade groups that focus on specific types of contractors, this alliance is open to everyone in the industry. Its first event will be held February 19 in Conshohocken, offering networking and educational opportunities.
A major concern is Pennsylvania’s construction labor shortage, driven by an aging workforce and a wave of retirements. Nationwide, the industry is short 439,000 workers. To help, the alliance will visit 30 high schools across the state, encouraging students to consider construction careers. These jobs that can easily pay six figures.
The alliance won’t lobby but will educate members on new regulations, such as licensing and safety standards. Perpiglia is also keeping an eye on federal policies like immigration enforcement and tariffs, though he doesn’t see a major impact in Pennsylvania.
After years leading another trade group, Perpiglia is using his own money to launch this effort, with affordable membership fees based on company revenue.
