Lansdale’s Ryan Quigley Recovers from Terrorist Attack, Mourns Fallen Friend

Lansdale's Ryan Quigley is recovering from the New Year's Day terrorist attack and now focuses on honoring fallen friend, Tiger Bech.

The Lansdale native and football star Ryan Quigley who was injured in the New Year’s Day terrorist attack, is out of the hospital but still facing emotional wounds, writes Justin Heinze for the Patch.

Quigley was a standout athlete at Lansdale Catholic and later Princeton University. He suffered a broken fibula, torn ACL, and torn meniscus from the attack, which required multiple surgeries. His friend and college teammate, Tiger Bech did not survive the attack.

“If the world had more Tiger Bechs in it, then it would be a much better place,” said a mourning Quigley.

The two friends were in New Orleans for a hunting and fishing trip. Quigley, a two-time MVP of the Philadelphia Catholic League, is now focused on honoring Bech’s legacy.

Nearly $80,000 was raised through GoFundMe for Quigley’s treatment and Bech’s funeral costs. The FBI is investigating the attack, perpetrated by Shamsud-Din Jabbar as an act of terrorism.

Authorities found an ISIS flag in Jabbar’s truck and authorities are working to confirm his allegiances.
