The Lansdale Catholic boys’ lacrosse team beat Devon Prep in a tense battle last week for the District 12-2A title, writes Kev Hunter for The Reporter.

The game which was held at Eastern University was a nail biter in the beginning with a lot of back and forth between the two teams.

The Lansdale’ Crusaders, however, broke the 4-4 tie in the second half, winning 8-6.

Crusaders senior attacker Patch Flannery said it was all about the mental game.

“We needed to stay together and play our game. We knew we had it,” he said.

“There was a lot of pressure on us to three-peat. All of these guys wanted to do it for us seniors. They were there for us, and they did well…And we wound up taking it home.”

Flannery himself was instrumental in changing the momentum of the game, scoring three goals in the third and fourth quarters.

“We had to stay out of our own heads and be there for each other,” he said. “And to make sure we were there in the game — nothing else.”
