The borough of Jenkintown invites residents to celebrate its 150th anniversary on Sunday, December 10, at 11 A.M. in the Town Square, writes Dino Ciliberti for the Patch.

Borough officials describe the event as a “momentous celebration,” honoring Jenkintown’s rich history, close-knit community, and promising future. The ceremony will feature a variety of activities highlighting the borough’s legacy and local talent.

A key moment of the celebration will be the dedication of a time capsule. The capsule will be filled with artifacts and reflections that capture the essence of Jenkintown today, leaving a legacy for future generations. Additionally, winners of the borough-wide essay contest from Jenkintown School District will read their heartfelt pieces. Essays will share perspectives on the borough’s past, present, and future.

Jenkintown High School student Alana Schloth will lend her voice to the occasion with a performance of the National Anthem. Borough leaders and special guests will also share remarks, congratulating the community on reaching this historic milestone.

The event will conclude with live music and refreshments, including hot chocolate and cake, creating a festive atmosphere to mark the occasion. All community members are encouraged to attend this celebration of Jenkintown’s enduring spirit.
