Conshohocken’s Cencora announced an agreement to acquire Retina Consultants of America from Webster Equity Partners, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The sale went for $4.6 billion. RCA is based in Texas and manages a network of nearly 300 retina specialists who handle over 2 million patient visits annually across 23 states.
Cencora is ranked No. 10 on the Fortune 500 list. They reported significant financial results for fiscal 2024, with $294 billion in revenue and $1.7 billion in net income.
“The acquisition of RCA will allow Cencora to broaden our relationships with community providers in a high growth segment,” said Robert Mauch, CEO of Cencora.
This deal follows Cencora’s previous acquisition of a minority stake in OneOncology, a network of independent oncology practices, in partnership with TPG. Cencora’s expanded management services aim to deliver valuable solutions across the healthcare system.
Cencora, formerly AmerisourceBergen Corp., employs over 46,000 people globally, with 1,100 based in the Philadelphia region.
