IMS Trading, an Audubon-based skincare and bath products company, has recently expanded its local operation and bringing over two dozen jobs from China in the process, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The company created an assembly and packaging space at its 90,000-square-foot warehouse and headquarters in Montgomery County for its Cleanlogic product line, which includes exfoliating stretch cloths, face cloths, back scrubbers, and body gloves.
According to company officials, IMS Trading has invested several hundred thousand dollars into the new assembly area. The company expanded its Cleanlogic local operations after Walmart sent out an open call for “Made in USA” products. The program allowed IMS Trading to increase the number of products it sells at Walmart.
The program also made it possible for the company to hire 29 local workers, replacing jobs that were previously performed overseas. Around 80 percent of the new employees have a disability.
“We’ve been working on this for the past two years,” said Isaac Shapiro, who co-founded IMS Trading with Mike Ghesser. “It’s been a testing lab for making this work. We want to put this playbook out there because what we’re doing is creating jobs.”
