After a legal battle that lasted eight years, Paoli couple Matt and Emily Meyers won $10 million in their lawsuit against Certified Guaranty Company, the international comic book grading giant, write Milan Varia and Emily Bloch for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The couple, who restore old comic books, became so good at their job that they were accused by the Certified Guaranty Company of falsifying the results of their projects. This accusation led to a dramatic decrease in their business, prompting the husband and wife duo to sue the company for defamation.
At the time, the Meyerses were in survival mode, having to sell their restored comics below value and issuing refunds to their former customers.
But they finally got some good news. A Philadelphia jury sided with the couple and ordered the world’s largest and most influential comic book company to pay $10 million to the pair.
The Meyerses are now trying to relax after their emotional journey ended.
“We’re gonna hang out with our four Pomeranians and spend time with our supportive families and friends that have been there for us this whole time,” said Matt Meyers.
