On July 21, 2,300 dedicated cyclists, including Sharon Beebe King from CCRES, joined the 37th annual Ben to the Shore Bike Tour to raise money for programs and services from the Philadelphia-based nonprofit Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation.
The Bike Tour offers a 30-mile ride, as well as a 65-mile Philadelphia to Atlantic City run.
King completed the 30-mile bike run and helped raise money for families of first responders.
King’s husband, Gary and Dee and Michael Kelly were on hand to cheer her on, along with the Team Jim Thorpers Bicycle Team.
The event this year raised over $1.4 million for Families Behind the Badge, which is dedicated to supporting the families of fallen and critically injured first responders, while building health connections in the community.
The funds raised provide financial relief to families of fallen and critically first responders and funds the Police Youth Alliance Program to connect police and children through positive programs. The funds will also go toward mental and well-being resources for first responders and their families.
CCRES, a nonprofit that provides educational and behavioral health service for children, adults, and families, sponsored the bike tour.
In addition to providing services, CCRES also awards grants and sponsorships to local nonprofits in and around the community.
