On August 25, 2022, Montgomery County firefighter Jason Adams received what he thought was a routine call about an emergency rescue.
However, the situation would change his life forever as it was his wife, Kellie Adams, writes Charles Watson for 6abc.
“I did respond and arrive on location to see our vehicle and to realize that it was my wife and unborn daughter,” Adams recalled. “The hardest part was going home and telling our two boys that their mom and sister weren’t coming home.”
In the immediate aftermath, he and his family received financial support from the nonprofit Montgomery County Hero Fund, which supports families of fallen or critically injured first responders.
Since then, he has strived to do his part to return the favor.
Adams and his sister-in-law, Stephanie Miller, joined the Montgomery County District Attorney’s “Wheels of Justice” bike team and began training and raising money for “Ben to the Shore Bike Tour,” a 65-mile bike charity event from Philadelphia to Atlantic City organized by Families Behind the Badge Children’s Foundation.
He ensures his wife and unborn daughter’s legacy lives on through their charitable efforts.
“We’re a family of service,” said Adams. “That’s what we do. That’s who we are.”
