Former 76ers part-owner and Lafayette Hill native Michael Rubin is all-in on his company, Fanatics, reports Christian Red for The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Last week, Rubin attended Fanatics Fest in New York, a three-day sports fan festival showcasing the Fanatics brand. Fans gathered to take pictures with the likes of Jay-Z, Allen Iverson, Derek Jeter – and Michael Rubin.

“I didn’t know two weeks ago whether this would be a success or a disaster,” Rubin said of the festival. It’s safe to say it was a success.

An astute businessman, Michael Rubin has always kept close to sports, starting in high school when he ran a ski-tuning business out of his parent’s basement. He eventually opened up other locations before the business turned south.

He eventually pivoted to flipping inventory in the closeout business, which gave him the capital to purchase other businesses. Among them was Fanatics.

Fanatics started out as a college sports merchandise company. With Rubin, they have since branched out to professional sports merchandise, and more recently online sports betting. Fanatics has made its mark in online betting and continues to grow. It has a presence in stadiums in the NFL, MLB, and NHL.
