Lehigh Valley Health Network Unveils New Micro-hospital in Gilbertsville to Public

Lehigh Valley Health Network recently unveiled its new micro-hospital in Gilbertsville, which is just an approval away from fully opening.

Lehigh Valley Health Network recently unveiled its new micro-hospital in Gilbertsville to the public, writes John George for the Philadelphia Business Journal.

The $40 million hospital is currently awaiting the imminent final approval by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to open its doors.

The health system chose Gilbertsville for its second neighborhood hospital because it was already serving some patients in the western part of Montgomery County, especially those requiring cardiology, neurology, and vascular services, according to Dr. Michael Rossi, executive vice president and chief clinical officer for the Lehigh Valley Health Network.

“This is really about bringing our advanced patient care closer to home,” said Rossi. “We’re growing to meet community needs for care and convenience across the areas we serve.”

The 22,000-square-foot medical center is located at Route 100 and Grosser Road and features ten inpatient beds along with a full-service emergency department with 11 beds that will be open 24/7. The hospital will also provide lab, imaging, and pharmacy services.

Patients who need surgery or higher levels of care will be transferred to higher-equipped hospitals in the Lehigh Valley network after being stabilized.
