Conshohocken resident named new medical director of VNA

VNA Philadelphia’s New Hospice/Palliative Care Medical Director Dr. Nicholas Ligato

VNA Philadelphia Welcomes a new Medical Director, Dr. Nicholas Ligato. Dr. Ligato joined VNA Philadelphia as the Medical Director of Hospice & Palliative Care in September 2019.

As Medical Director, Dr. Ligato is responsible for the comprehensive medical direction of hospice and palliative care at VNA Philadelphia.  With 15 private rooms at the Falls Center hospice unit and approximately 200 patients served daily, Dr. Ligato will ensure that medical care is met while providing support to patients and staff.

Dr. Ligato began his career as an Internist and has been in hospital/outpatient care for over 6 years, including working as a fellow at VNA Philadelphia and Temple University Hospital.  An acclaimed speaker, Ligato has given many talks on end of life care and is excited to continue to educate people on advanced care planning.  Recently he presented on Palliative Care at the Roxborough Hospital and a case session in Florida entitled: “Rethinking Family Dynamics and End of Life Care in a Group Home Patient.”  Professional memberships include: American Osteopathic Association; American College of Osteopathic Internists; PA Osteopathic Medical Association and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

Dr. Ligato received his Doctor of Osteopathy from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010.  Dr. Ligato received a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Chicago and his MS from Tulane University in 2005.  He resides in Conshohocken with his wife and enjoys reading, cooking, playing sports and teaching others in his free time.
