N.Y. Times: Life Time Ardmore is ‘Country Club’ Version of a Health Club
High-end gyms — such as Life Time Fitness in Ardmore — are expanding their range and are now offering much more than the usual state-of-the-art equipment and exercise classes, writes Megan Willett-Wei for The New York Times.
They now range from being salons and spas to hotels and workspaces including offering childcare facilities.
At Life Time, which dubbed itself a “country club” version of a health club, members have the option of dropping off their child for a fee before their workout.
Additionally, a Life Time Work membership will provide them with a private office or a desk at its co-working space. The membership also includes access to the gym.
A lounge membership at Life Time Work in Ardmore costs $588 per month, it is $776 for a desk, and $1,958 for those who want to have a private office.
According to Life Time’s chief executive, Bahram Akradi, the new strategy of adding more offerings to its gyms — which originated out of necessity during the pandemic — has proven to be a success.
“We reinvented the business during that time, and it is substantially better than it used to be,” he said.
