The Spring Valley YMCA in Royersford recently hosted an indoor triathlon that tested participants’ skills in swimming, biking, and running, writes Nick Iadonisi for 6 ABC.

The event served not only as a competition but also as a tribute to Brian Kozera, the beloved former head coach whose legacy continues to inspire athletes.

Under the guidance of Logan Washburn, head coach of the Spring Valley Multisport Gators, the triathlon also marked the launch of a new scholarship in Kozera’s name.

This scholarship aims to support service members by providing them with a year of free access to local YMCA facilities, fostering their athletic and personal growth.

Reflecting on his two decades of coaching, Washburn shared, “It makes people feel empowered. It makes people feel like they can do anything, and that’s the reason why I coach.”

This sentiment underscores the profound impact sports can have, empowering individuals to realize their fullest potential.
