The Mustangs ended the season with a 24-1 record and a Top 5 spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings.

The special chemistry of this year’s Montgomery County Community College Men’s Basketball team was palpable from the start, writes Owen McCue for City of Basketball Love.

Sean Emfinger, a first-year player from Cheltenham, described the energy they all felt during summer pick-ups.

“It was a bunch of dunks, we were hitting threes. The chemistry was already there just based off talent,” he said.

This was also the first year Koran Prince was head coach. He served as an assistant coach for many years prior.

The team seemed meant to create magic. They ended the season with a 24-1 record and a Top 5 spot in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings.

Postseason tournaments are yet determined, but the team hopes to win a regional and national title.

“You kind of have an idea when you’re recruiting, you start getting some commitments from kids and start thinking this is a special team…In person, when you start to see them play, you say, ‘Alright. This may be a pretty good team,’ Then you start putting the practices in and plays, and you start to see something really special,” Prince said.
