Ambler Savings Bank officially kicked off its 150th Anniversary celebration with employees and customers last week. The Bank has many community events and activities planned over the coming year to highlight this historical achievement.

Ambler Savings Bank was chartered in 1874 to provide financing for local residents to purchase and build homes. Since before the town was named Ambler, the Bank has served the community offering loans, deposit accounts and philanthropic support. The Bank has grown to employ 60 people with four branches and offices in three retirement communities across Montgomery and Buck Counties. The Bank offers a wide range of business and personal banking solutions, delivered with personalized service as well as the latest digital banking tools.

The Bank remains independent under the governance of a cooperative Board of Trustees and is committed to serving the best interests of customers and the local community. Ambler Savings Bank supports local non-profit organizations, specifically in the areas of education, affordable housing, social services, and community development.

“The bank was founded to help support the community,” shared Roger Zacharia, President and CEO. “We started by helping people buy their first home or start their first business, and the same is still true today.”

These founding principles will be honored over this milestone year with additional community investments. That community begins with Bank employees. Recently, 25 employees received awards for 10 years of service or more, and 3 individuals were recognized for over 40 years of tenure.

Employees are looking forward to giving back during a Day of Service with various organizations in the region in the fall. As chief influencers of the Bank’s charitable giving, the staff of each branch will also choose a non-profit organization to receive a $1,500 donation.

Roger stated, “Celebrating our 150th anniversary also means celebrating our employees and customers who have helped us get to where we are today.”

Throughout the year, each branch will host customer appreciation events to thank all those who have supported the bank for 150 years and counting. The Bank is also sponsoring several special activities at Ambler’s First Friday event on June 7th.

The Bank will continue its investment in the community as the headline sponsor for the Ambler Arts & Music Festival and Oktoberfest in 2024. Both events raise money to support Ambler Main Street and the Rotary Club of Ambler, investing money back into the town.

“The Ambler Borough is thankful for the long-standing support of Ambler Savings Bank to the ongoing needs of the community,” stated Jeanne Sorg, Mayor, Borough of Ambler. “From the Main Street festivals to police and fire departments, we know we can count on their support.”

Many times in recent history the Bank has supported first responders and the community in crisis. Recent donations to the Ambler Police include ballistic helmets in 2023 and a bicycle in 2019. In 2021 they donated over $20,000 to help those affected by Hurricane Ida in Upper Dublin Township.

Additionally, the Bank is the headline sponsor for the Ambler Kiwanis Club Carnival and Fireworks display held 4th of July weekend.
