With the Lunar New Year approaching (Sat., Feb. 10), Valley Forge Tourism & Convention Board has compiled a list of some celebratory events to attend in Valley Forge and Montgomery County.

The Lunar New Year, a celebration of the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunisolar calendar, is the most important holiday in China (but also widely celebrated in South Korea, Vietnam, and countries with a significant overseas Chinese population).

To celebrate 2024 as the Year of the Dragon, consider attending the free Lunar New Year event at Suburban Square (Anderson and Coulter Ave. in Ardmore) on Feb. 10. Stop by the Farmer’s Market for samples from Aziatisch and enjoy Lion Dancing from 10 AM until noon.

The King of Prussia Mall (160 N. Gulph Rd.) will also welcome the Year of the Dragon with a free event on Feb. 10 from 3-6 PM.

King of Prussia retailers will have pop-ups around Nordstrom Court, and brands will also be handing out red envelopes and offers along the parade route. From 3-4:15 PM, Vivian’s Dance Arts Center will kick off the event with traditional dance routines and fashion presentations, and then from 4:30-5:45 PM, the Philadelphia Sun will start its Lion Dance in Nordstrom Court and parade through the mall.

Participating retailers include Lush, Venchi, Blue Nile, Purple, Tiffany & Co., and many more.

To round out the celebration, on Feb. 15, the Year of the Dragon festivities will continue at the Valley Forge Casino Resort (1160 First Ave.), where you can participate in the Lucky Lion Dance on the casino floor.
