Aunt Mary Pat at Ardmore Music Hall – January 9th
Aunt Mary Pat is the “friggin Queen of Delco.” She is known as an aunt to all, mom to some, and wife to one! She is known for her hilarious social media videos discussing topics like the Philly accent, the “friggin Iggles,” Wawa, and the “Ackame.”
Right after the historic Eagles Super Bowl win, she skyrocketed to prominence in the Delaware Valley area. She has performed all over the East Coast- including The Queen (Wilmington), Milton Theatre, Valley Forge Casino, Harrahs Casino, and even made her debut in Florida.
Her music peaked at the top of iTunes comedy charts, including two #1 songs and a top 5 album! She was voted as Delaware’s Readers Choice for Best Entertainment 2019, and Best of Delco 2019. She is currently on tour promoting her debut album “Talk of the Township.”

Winter Tree Identification: Session One at Haverford College Arboretum – January 7
Join Brice Dorwart and arborist professionals as they explore the winter landscape and learn how to identify deciduous tree species without their leaves. Brice is an ISA certified arborist and utility specialist from Davey Resource Group who works with PECO’s vegetation management department.
Wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather, this event will take place rain or shine. Two CEUs are available for ISA Certified Arborists. There are a limited number of spots and registration is required.
Nature Book Club: The Brother Gardeners by Andrea Wulf at Haverford College Arboretum – January 10
Discuss the story of the garden revolution and the men who led the birth of an obsession in the botanical world. Light refreshments included.
Winter Acting Class and Free Workshop at New Life Church – January 13 – March 2
Delve deep into monologues and scene work through movement, character creation, and tactics. Students will engage in games and exercises that develop the fundamentals of acting.
The class is a fun mix of exploration and theater play. Students gain self-assurance in their acting as well as a self-confidence that they can keep for a lifetime.
The first class of Theater Arts is a free workshop for students to get a feel for the class before committing to the full 8-week session. Scene and character studies will lead to a performance at the end of the session.

Summer Camp Fair at Plymouth Meeting Mall – January 26
MetroKids’ 12th annual Super Camp Fair will host over 85 day, residential, and specialty camps. Fun for the whole family includes interactive exhibits, live demonstrations, and hands-on activities; plus chances to win prizes and camp scholarships.
Along with the invaluable opportunity to meet directors from some of the area’s best summer camps, the MetroKids Super Camp Fair is the only camp fair to provide free entertainment, food sampling, games and a photo booth.

Conifers: A Tour of Haverford’s Pinetum at Haverford College Arboretum – January 31
The Ryan Pinetum is the area’s largest and finest collection of mature conifers. Started in 1928 this prominent Arboretum feature showcases coniferous trees arranged by scientific collection and planted by family and genus.
Haverford College horticulturist Charles Bone will lead the way in exploring this diverse educational resource. Wear good walking shoes and dress for the weather. In the case of inclement weather this tour will be moved to Friday, February 7 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon.

Dr. Martin Luther King Weekend at Eastern State Penitentiary Site – January 18 – 20
Join Eastern State Penitentiary as we commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his 1963 “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” Engage in special readings from the landmark text and respond to its relevance today. All special activities are free and open to the public. Daytime tours of Eastern State are available for standard admission prices.
Professional actors, youth, and community leaders read excerpts from Dr. King’s letter three times a day on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. After each reading, visitors are invited to respond to the letter’s relevance today during an informal discussion moderated by a civil rights scholar.
In addition, on Monday, January 20 only, join us for family activities (10 am – 4 pm) with the African American Museum in Philadelphia and Art Sanctuary, musical performances (1 pm and 3 pm) by Justin Griggs, and community electronics recycling (10 am – 2 pm) with PAR-Recycle Works. Pottsgrove Manor by Candlelight – December 15
In Colonial America, Twelfth Night was one of the largest celebrations in the calendar year. During the candlelight tours at the historic Pottsgrove Manor, the holiday comes back to life through costumed interpreters. Open-hearth cooking demonstrations and kids’ crafts will also be featured.
Dr. Jason M. Williams: Race As A Carceral Terrain: Black Lives Matter Meets Reentry at Eastern State Penitentiary Site – January 7
Dr. Jason M. Williams will unpack the criminalizing elements of race as a broader social control mechanism. In doing so, he will introduce excerpts from a recently published special issue he edited in The Prison Journal that looks at the connection between Black Lives Matter and reentry.
Dr. Williams is an Assistant Professor of Justice Studies at Montclair State University. His main areas of research are race, gender and justice, reentry and punishment, policing, and the broader implications of social control.
Comedy Night at Stone and Key Celler – January 17

Twelfth Night Tours at Pottsgrove Manor – December 1 – January 5
Uncover the origins of many holiday traditions alongside some forgotten favorites on guided tours of Pottsgrove Manor.

Echoes, The American Pink Floyd Presents: “Five Sides Live” at Ardmore Music Hall – January 3

Box Of Rain (Essential Grateful Dead ’68-’74) W/ The Sherwood Brothers at Ardmore Music Hall – January 4
Box of Rain is the classic six piece that pays tribute to the most prolific and formative period of the Grateful Dead, 1968-74. Featuring an all-star lineup with former members of Dark Star Orchestra, Living Earth, Boris Garcia, Zen Tricksters, and Dead On Live, Box of Rain channels the sound and magic that could only have emerged from that special time. And what a time it was! The Dead were at the height of both their songwriting and improvisational prowess.
Box of Rain Features an extended Pig Pen presence, one very swingin’ drummer, and the most coherent and visceral space and improvisations that capture the legendary 5-6 hour Grateful Dead performances.

After quitting the music industry in december of 2019 he’s back and some would say backer than ever.
