Your Guide to Montco Service Opportunities to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Montgomery County leaders are encouraging county residents to spend some time in reflection and service as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., writes Rachel Ravina for The Times Herald.
A variety of events are scheduled this weekend and on Monday, January 15, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
“It’s a moment to celebrate the civil rights icon whose acts of service continue to inspire us to this day,” said Montgomery County Commissioners’ Chairwoman Jamila Winder.
Here are some of the events and service opportunities scheduled around Montgomery County.
- Ardmore Library MLK Presentation for Kids and Families: 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Ardmore Library.
- Harriton Preserve Clean Up and Trail Maintenance Day: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday in Bryn Mawr.
- The Doctor Boston Legacy Foundation MLK Day of Service Clean-Up: 9-11:30 a.m. on Monday at Whites Road Park in Lansdale.
- George Washington Carver Community Center MLK Day of Service Clean-up: 12-3 p.m. on Monday at the George Washington Carver Community Center in Norristown.
- Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and Phi Beta Omega MLK Day of Service: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday at Salem Baptist Church in Abington.
