In honor of Martin Luther King Day of Service, Arcadia University’s Community and Civic Engagement Center will host a “Give and Shred” event on January 20.

In honor of Martin Luther King Day of Service, Arcadia University’s Community and Civic Engagement Center in Glenside will host a “Give and Shred” event on January 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There members of the public will be able to securely shred documents with Wiggins Shredding Company and ProShred.

In lieu of a shredding fee, the university will be accepting non-perishables for Arcadia’s Knights for Nutrition food pantry, professional wear for Career Wardrobe, formal dresses to benefit Covenant House, books for Project HOME, and cash donations that will contribute to other CCEC service projects.

Other items that include things such as electronic waste, will not be accepted.

Career Wardrobe is a nonprofit social enterprise that uses clothing and professional development to empower unemployed individuals to work.

Meanwhile, the Covenant House nonprofit provides shelter and support services for homeless and displaced adolescents.

Event attendees have to use the Church Road entrance to the campus, from where they will be directed toward Murphy Hall to drop off donations. Afterwards, they will be directed to one of the five shredding trucks available.
