Philadelphia International Airport is expecting to see its busiest Thanksgiving holiday travel period since 2019, writes Emma Dooling for Philadelphia Business Journal.

However, the airport noted that the return to pre-pandemic numbers is still a few years away.

Around 904,900 departing and arriving passengers are expected at PHL from Friday, November 17, through Tuesday, November 28.

This is an eleven percent increase from the estimated 814,506 travelers that arrived and departed from PHL over the same timeframe last year.

It is anticipated that the busiest day during the Thanksgiving travel period will be Sunday, November 26, when the airport expects to see 92,474 passengers. The second busiest day is projected to be Wednesday, November 22, with an expected 81,990 travelers.

“The uptick in travel continues a trend we have experienced throughout this year and makes us excited for our continued pandemic recovery as we head into 2024,” said PHL CEO Atif Saeed.
