The Lower Merion High School football team beat Radnor in the final game of its 2023 season last week and posted its first winning season in more than three decades, writes Bruce Adams for Main Line Times & Suburban.
Lower Merion players came thundering down the path toward the goal and recorded a major victory on Sunday: 56-12.
Lower Merion football head coach Joe Augustine is well aware of how much this major accomplishment means to the community.
“Just seeing everybody celebrating after the game taking pictures, is one of the greatest feelings that I’ve ever had as a coach,” he said.
A 1999 Harriton High School grad and former Rams player, Augustine spent nine years as Lower Merion assistant football coach before taking over as head coach four years ago.
“At the end of last season, we knew what we had (in players) coming back this year,” he added.
“Having a winning season was our No. 1 goal this year, and we knew the work we needed to do to get it.”
