Temple Ambler Is Hosting the Great American Campout and the Science of Scary

The National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Campout celebrates camping as a way to connect with nature and wildlife and to emphasize how important outdoor play is for our mind, body and spirit.

Are you ready for a night of camping under the stars with a little bit of something scary thrown in for the Halloween season?

As part of Temple Ambler EarthFest, Temple will be hosting The Great American Campout from 2 p.m. October 21 to 10 a.m. on Sunday October 22 on the Bright Hall Lawn.

The National Wildlife Federation’s Great American Campout celebrates camping as a way to connect with nature and wildlife and to emphasize how important outdoor play is for our mind, body and spirit.

The special event will include nature walks, camping workshops as well as stargazing with the Delaware Valley Amateur Astronomers and listening to campfire stores from Chief Adam Waterbear DePaul, Tribal Storykeeper and Director of Education of the Lenape Nation of Pennsylvania.

Happening in tandem will be The Science of Scary which will take place on Saturday, October 21 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in Bright Hall Lounge.

This part of Temple Ambler Earthfest will focus on teaching the science behind the things in nature some people might find scary but are important to the environment like snakes, lizards, and carnivorous plants.

It is a chance to better understand some of nature’s wonders that are right in your backyard.
